An update for the Huawei P8 Lite on Android 5.1 Lollipop calls in the US apparently produced a massive data loss. The update is possible only through the manual installation of the software, while the user data will probably be deleted from the smartphone. It is still unclear whether this could be a problem for German users.

The software updates for its smartphones Huawei has so far not always with glory. So many devices the Chinese manufacturer often does not run well to release the latest version of Android. It is even worse, however, in the United States. There, buyers of Huawei P8 Lite had been satisfied 4.4.4 Kitkat with Android. Now the manufacturer has finally an update to version 5.1 Lollipop provided, however, that makes loud Android Police for new trouble.

Lollipop update deletes all user data on the P8 Lite
The update for the P8 Lite is therefore not automatically delivered to users instead download it from the Huawei website and install it manually. For this purpose, the files must be copied to a microSD card and transfer this to your phone. After the subsequent flash the new version of Android, however, is a serious problem: all data will be deleted Apparently the update on your smartphone automatically.

Still no update in sight for Europe
For mobile phone users that is of course a horror scenario. European owners of Huawei P8 Lite, however, are currently not affected. In this country, the smartphone is in fact delivered 5.0 Lollipop ex works with Android. Whether there will be for the models sold in Europe will soon be upgraded to the version 5.1, is still unknown. If Huawei decide to bring the software update to Europe, then hopefully in a variant that does not delete any data from P8 Lite. From an installation of the update file that Huawei currently provides on its US site, it is not advisable in any case urgently.
