In the iOS version of WhatsApp, a new feature has been recently added that allows you to delete photos, videos, GIFs, or messages. We explain where the option is hidden and how it works.
WhatsApp for the iPhone recently received an update to version 2.17.7, which also introduced a practical new memory management feature. If you already have this WhatsApp version, you can see it in the Messenger under "Settings> Info and Help". There is the version number printed at the top.
In the following menu you will now be able to see all your chats, sorted by the size of the media sent. If you now tap on any chat, you will get a more detailed overview of the sent media and its size as well as the number of messages. If you select "Manage", you can select or deselect entries in the memory list - of course, only if you have actually exchanged the corresponding media files. You can also check off several checkboxes at the same time and delete them.
If you are satisfied with your selection, you can delete the files with a tip on "emptiness" - your iPhone memory, just if it is only 16 GB, it will surely thank you! The feature is also very handy because you can delete the annoying videos from the family group in WhatsApp without affecting the best friend's wedding pictures.
But be careful: After the tip on "Empty" there is no way back, the files are irretrievably deleted. For photos and videos, however, there is still the security network of the Fotomediathek, where the majority of WhatsApp users will see the media as a copy.
