For its TouchWiz interface Samsung earned in the past often criticism. For overweight, not efficient enough - these were just some of the criticisms. That could change soon. At least battery saving could work TouchWiz soon. On the SDC 2016 Samsung's in-house developer conference, the manufacturer presented according to Android Central the prototype of a new TouchWiz version. What is new is mainly the programming API volcano.

  • Google also uses Android 7.0 N on volcano API

Even the Galaxy S7 and S7 Galaxy Edge, Samsung took advantage the benefits of the interface. The volcano API brings namely graphically demanding processes on many different systems, including Android, running, and so optimizes the gaming performance of the smartphone flagships. This advantage has also Google recognized and integrated the support volcano in the developer preview of Android N. quite possible, therefore, that the next version of Android will be put on the programming with the great potential.

  • New interface to help TouchWiz save energy

If Samsung is expected from the volcano API as TouchWiz based mainly two things: an increase in performance and an increase in battery life. In initial tests, this worked well already. Scrolling through web pages loaded the battery 6.4 percent less than the previous TouchWiz interface. The opening and closing of applications was 5.76 percent more energy efficient. A 3600 mAh battery providing comprehensive - as it owns the Galaxy S7 Edge - could extend the overall battery life by about 40 minutes. Of course, it is so far only a test. It shows that there are still opportunities to improve the battery life of smartphones - without having to install a larger battery.
