The new old status has been available since last week in a WhatsApp beta version for Android. From next week, Android users are supposed to be able to re-use the old WhatsApp status officially. IOS users have to wait a little bit longer, but should also keep the feature timely. The provider does not make a complete role backwards. Rather, new and old status functions will be available in the future in parallel.
